At RYP Designs, we make vibrant, attractive products with a spiritual side, participating in the “aloha” concept that is so much a part of local cultures.
Part of that catalog involves our unique yoga mats that you can roll up and take with you anywhere. With that in mind, we like to share some of the tips we've collected about good yoga practices, and how you can improve your quality of life with this ancient activity!
Creating a Space
The first suggestion is to create your own individual space, which is where our yoga mats come in. Pick a design that resonates with you, and you'll associate that with your own yoga environment every time you go to the mat. It might seem like a small detail – but some of our customers have explained to us that by reinforcing a memory concept when they start their routine – they start stronger and have a more intense connection to what they’re doing.
Centering
We also recommend the practice of centering where you eliminate distractions, narrow your mind’s focus, and hone in on the aspects that make yoga so therapeutic and valuable to practitioners. That’s a good way to think about how to change your mental image in general, but it’s particularly useful in yoga and meditation.
Everyone has their own particular ritual for centering, but we like to think about using visual icons, relaxing breath, and again, cutting out all of those external things that dilute your yoga experience, leaving your cares and worries at the door.
Guided or Unguided Meditation
If there's someone there to guide you, that's great, but in many cases you're on your own. Getting good at unguided meditation means creating your own narratives and stories that you can engage in to separate from the workaday world and enjoy yoga sessions that are more fulfilling and rewarding.
Think About Transitions
In attaining yoga positions and working through routines, we feel you can get a lot further by focusing on your transitions. Recognize the power of a transition and understand its use to optimize your yoga routine. When we talk about this with yoga people, they articulate it well: the “flow” is important in yoga.
