Fine Art to Fabric
This exciting collaboration of fine art and fabric design brings together two long time Hawaii residents. World renown artist, Satoru Abe, is known around the world for his sculptures of abstracted natural forms and his artwork has been featured in many museums, including the Metropolitan Musuem of Art in New York City. RYP Designs is fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Mr. Abe to transform his artwork into colorful fabrics, featured in our first line of Aloha Shirts, to be launched later this year.
ABOUT Satoru Abe
Abe is best known for his sculptures of abstracted natural forms, many of which resemble trees, such as East and West in the collection of the Hawaii State Art Museum. He also painted. Two Abstract Figures in the collection of the Honolulu Museum of Art typifies this aspect of his work. The Honolulu Museum of Art and the Hawaii State Art Museum are among the public collections that hold Abe's works.
